Position Summary

At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, we seek a Licensed Addictions Counselor to support a trauma-informed environment while providing substance abuse services to youth with histories of substance use. The role involves serving as a positive role model and mentor, conducting assessments, and participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning.

Daily And Monthly Responsibilities

  • Conduct confidential, quality Chemical Dependency Assessments using DSM-5 and ASAM criteria.
  • Schedule and conduct Group, Individual, and Family Chemical Dependency Therapy Sessions.
  • Maintain case records in YBGR's Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Participate in prevention services as directed by the supervisory team.
  • Engage in performance quality improvement goals and contribute to the strategic goals of the agency.
  • Attend monthly supervision/coaching meetings with the supervisor.
  • Participate in the CBS on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Age 21 or older
  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass background checks as required by the State of Montana
  • Education: Minimum of an Associate of Arts degree or equivalent in alcohol and drug studies, addiction, or substance abuse with at least 330 contact hours in addiction courses
  • Licensed as a Montana LAC

  • Ability to conduct thorough assessments and develop personalized treatment plans
  • Proficiency in evidence-based counseling and therapy interventions
  • Knowledge of addiction science and its physiological, psychological, and social impacts
  • Cultural competence and understanding of diverse backgrounds
  • Trauma-informed care and ability to address the impact of trauma
  • Self-motivation, self-discipline, and diligence
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to obtain certifications in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention
  • Physical demands: Constantly communicate with clients, maintain focus for extended periods, and assist in physical restraint (50-300 lbs)

Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements

  • Work indoors in a climate-controlled environment, occasionally outdoors on uneven terrain and at different elevations
  • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and other office equipment
  • Standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone positions
  • Driving company or personal vehicle to other YBGR locations

Pay

The starting salary range is $24.50 - $27.57 per hour, reflecting steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary is determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.
