Position Summary
At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, we seek a Licensed Addictions Counselor to support a trauma-informed environment while providing substance abuse services to youth with histories of substance use. The role involves serving as a positive role model and mentor, conducting assessments, and participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
Daily And Monthly Responsibilities
- Conduct confidential, quality Chemical Dependency Assessments using DSM-5 and ASAM criteria.
- Schedule and conduct Group, Individual, and Family Chemical Dependency Therapy Sessions.
- Maintain case records in YBGR's Electronic Medical Records system.
- Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
- Provide prevention services as directed by the supervisory team.
- Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency.
- Engage in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals.
- Deal constructively and helpfully with all other members of the organization.
- Support and model YBGR's mission and values.
- Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures.
- Participate in monthly supervision/coaching meetings.
- Identify and address the impact of trauma on addiction and mental health.
- Communicate effectively with clients, treatment team, and others.
Qualifications
- 21 years old or older
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana
- A minimum of an Associate of Arts degree or a certificate from an accredited institution in alcohol and drug studies, addiction, or substance abuse with a minimum of 330 contact hours in addiction courses
- Montana LAC Professional License Required
Abilities/Skills
- Ability to conduct thorough assessments of clients' substance use history, mental health status, and related psychosocial factors.
- Proficiency in delivering evidence-based counseling and therapy interventions such as CBT, MI, DBT, and relapse prevention techniques.
- Knowledge of addiction science, including the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of addiction, and the effects of various substances on the body and mind.
- Understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity to the unique needs and backgrounds of clients.
- Ability to recognize and address the impact of trauma on addiction and mental health.
- Self-motivated, self-disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking.
- Willingness and ability to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention.
- Current license to operate passenger vehicle with a clean driving record with no major violations within the last three years.
Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements
- Work environment: Indoor climate-controlled environment, occasional outdoor work, including uneven terrain and changes in elevation.
- Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
- Standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone positions for extended periods.
- Occasional physical restraint of a youth (50-300 lbs).
- Constant communication with clients, treatment team, and others.
- Able to communicate accurately and understand information communicated by others.
- Able to perceive, recognize, and observe client behavior, including non-verbal cues.
- Driving company or personal vehicle to other YBGR locations.
Pay
Starting Salary Range: $24.50 - $27.57 per hour. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.
