About the role
The Merrill-Cazier Library's Access Services team seeks a Library Technician to serve as the Evening Manager. This full-time, benefited position oversees library operations during evening and weekend hours, ensuring high-quality public service, supporting student employees, and responding to patron and facility needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversees library operations during evening and weekend hours, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.
- Captures and coordinates Access Services operations, including circulation services, technology support, and other departmental workflows.
- Provides leadership, training, and day-to-day supervision of student employees.
- Exercises independent judgment to resolve patron service, facility, and operational issues, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Collaborates with library personnel to ensure continuity of services and support library initiatives.
- Participates in committees, projects, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Two years of library experience or an associate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a public service environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and community members.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Word, Excel) and ability to learn new systems and technologies.
