Library Services Manager

About the role

Painters I perform skilled work in painting and finishing a variety of wood, metal and other surfaces including equipment and furniture. Functions include stripping, preparing and painting walls and other wood and metal surfaces; blending and matching paints; performing finish work using stains, paints, varnishes and lacquers; installing drywall, taping and mud walls for painting; cleaning and storing tools and materials; erecting scaffolding and working from extension ladders.

Responsibilities

• Strip, prepare and paint walls and other wood and metal surfaces
• Blend and match paints
• Perform finish work using stains, paints, varnishes and lacquers
• Install drywall, tape and mud walls for painting
• Clean and store tools and materials
• Erect scaffolding and work from extension ladders
• In addition, Painters in the Sheriff's facilities may supervise a small inmate work crew for various jobs

Requirements

• Four years of full-time, paid journey level experience as a painter in the building trades
• OR
• Successful completion of a formal painting apprenticeship program resulting in journey level status

Qualifications

Note: Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony. Prior to appointment, applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass a background investigation.

Skills

The test will be administered on January 8, 2009 and will consist of an evaluation of knowledge and skills on the following topics: Painting Techniques, Safety Craft, Labor & Trades Unit
