About the role

The librarian provides an enriched library environment for students, facilitating intellectual growth and skill acquisition through the use of various instructional materials and technology.

Responsibilities

• Operates and supervises the library.
• Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new library materials.
• Collaborates with other professionals to enhance learning opportunities.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures library materials are in good condition.
• Coordinates instructional activities and promotes appropriate student behavior.
• Develops and implements plans for educational assistants and volunteers.
• Participates in professional development and maintains a network of educational associations.
• Guides the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals and sets clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• May serve at multiple locations as an itinerant librarian.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Pennsylvania Instructional Teaching Certificate.
• Ability to speak clearly and write routine reports and correspondence.
• Basic arithmetic skills and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to operate a personal computer and software.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, use hands, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
