About the role
The librarian provides an enriched library environment for students, facilitating intellectual growth and skill acquisition through the use of various instructional materials and technology.
Responsibilities
- Operates and supervises the library.
- Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new library materials.
- Collaborates with other professionals to enhance learning opportunities.
- Maintains accurate records and ensures library materials are in good condition.
- Coordinates instructional activities and promotes appropriate student behavior.
- Develops and implements plans for educational assistants and volunteers.
- Participates in professional development and maintains a network of educational associations.
- Guides the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals and sets clear objectives for lessons and projects.
- May serve at multiple locations as an itinerant librarian.
Qualifications
- Possession of a Pennsylvania Instructional Teaching Certificate.
- Ability to speak clearly and write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic arithmetic skills and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and software.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, use hands, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
