About the role
This is a full-time, on-site High School Science Teacher role located in Torrington, CT.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with district curriculum and state standards, focusing on areas such as chemistry, biology, and environmental science.
- Create and implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Communicate regularly with families and colleagues.
- Collaborate with other educators, participate in professional development, and contribute to school-wide initiatives and activities.
Qualifications
- Ability to design effective lesson planning and curriculum development that aligns with standards and supports diverse learning needs.
- Strong content knowledge in Chemistry, Biology, and/or Environmental Science to teach rigorous, inquiry-based high school courses.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and colleagues in a professional, collaborative manner.
- Valid state teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Secondary Science.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related science field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience using formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and support student growth.
- Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching and support for students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and classroom management.
