About the role

The Library Media Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing an information and technology literacy program that is part of the Walter Maginnis High School curriculum. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain an information media program that fosters the continued professional growth of the learning community.
  • Create and implement a physical and interpersonal classroom environment that supports student learning within a correctional setting.
  • Engage students in learning and utilize instructional strategies that help students understand content.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities and collaborate with colleagues to advance learning for teachers and students.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain an information media program that fosters the continued professional growth of the learning community.
  • Create and implement a physical and interpersonal classroom environment that supports student learning within a correctional setting.
  • Engage students in learning and utilize instructional strategies that help students understand content.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities and collaborate with colleagues to advance learning for teachers and students.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Minnesota K-12 Library Media Specialist License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of a current Minnesota Tier 3 or 4 teaching license.
  • Experience working in an education setting.
  • Experience working in a correctional setting.
  • Experience teaching information technology and literacy courses.
  • Possession of a multi-categorical teaching license.
  • Full-time teaching experience as a licensed teacher.

Skills

The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position and may be required to complete a tuberculosis screening prior to hire.

Pay

Salary range: $29.03 - $56.39 / hourly; $60,614 - $117,742 / annually*

Schedule

Full-time, Evening Shift, Monday - Friday
