Location: Central Library, with travel and assignment to other Brown County Library branches as needed.
Schedule
Mondays - Fridays: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm (Hours are somewhat negotiable)
Responsibilities
- Clean and provide general upkeep of Library buildings, inside and outside:
- Clean interior facilities, including:
- Vacuum, shampoo and clean carpets
- Strip, clean and wax floors
- Clean furniture, ceilings and walls
- Sanitize restrooms
- Change lamps, clean and repair fixtures as needed
- Maintain exterior grounds by raking, mowing, pruning, watering and removing snow
- Wash the interior and exterior of Library buildings
- Remove garbage and recycling
- Maintain and perform minor repair on equipment and furniture such as snow blowers, mowers, air conditioners, furniture, and shelving
- Provide support to other library staff members in monitoring and correcting problem customer behavior
- Set up and/or deliver furniture, supplies and equipment for library events and programs
- Perform special projects as necessary (such as assembling furniture, scaffolding, unclogging sewer systems, painting, etc.)
- Clean interior facilities, including:
- Perform office work regarding maintenance:
- Maintain documentation as required
- Comply with all safety and quality assurance standards and procedures
- Support the mission and strategic goals of the Library:
- Assist Library customers locating library departments, meeting spaces and events
- Assist Library customers and staff connecting and troubleshooting audio/visual connections and setups
- Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
Requirements
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in general housekeeping and maintenance
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of library operations, services and materials
- Demonstrate knowledge of minor repair techniques for maintaining equipment
- Effectively operate various types of maintenance equipment
- Demonstrate knowledge of paint types and their applications
- Recognize and report safety issues and problems
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Represent the Library in a responsible, professional, and trustworthy manner
- Establish and maintain cooperative and courteous working relationships with staff and diverse customer base
- Work independently with minimum supervision
- Appropriately multitask and prioritize
- Work efficiently while paying close attention to detail
- Follow detailed verbal and written instructions
- Perform repetitive, routine procedures
- Meet the flexible scheduling needs of the Library
- Adapt to changes in the work environment
- Demonstrate basic computer skills, including keyboarding, word processing and email
- Effectively use general office equipment, including but not limited to computer, printer, photocopier, and telephone
