Library Director (CDIS Commons Director)

About the role

The School of Computer, Data and Information Sciences (CDIS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as the CDIS Commons Director. This role will lead the CDIS Commons, a user- and learner-oriented set of services, spaces, and people serving several thousand students and several hundred faculty and staff from across four growing academic departments in the new CDIS Building.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, vision, oversight, and assessment of the spaces, programs, and services that comprise the CDIS Commons.
• Oversee a range of services including Commons space management and assessment, reference and information services, outreach, student service points, support for student clubs, library instruction, and a circulating collection.

Requirements

Commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Experience in managing and overseeing library services and spaces.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design and service provision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Skills

• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with digital collections and services.
• Knowledge of user research methods and data analysis.
• Ability to develop and implement effective outreach strategies.
