Library Director

About the Role

Due to retirement, the Alcona County Library is seeking a Library Director who will be accountable to an appointed Library Board of Trustees and represent the library in the community. The Director will plan programs and services, administer library policies and financial controls, hire and supervise staff, oversee operations, develop collections, and provide leadership across all five library branches.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement library programs and services.
• Administer library policies and financial controls.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Oversee daily operations of the library system.
• Develop and manage library collections.
• Provide leadership within the library and the broader community.
• Serve as the official representative for all five library branches.

Qualifications

• Level 1 Permanent Professional Librarian Certificate from the Library of Michigan.
• Candidates without an MLS or MLIS may be considered based on relevant experience.

Pay

Salary range: $62,500 – $72,500 annually, based on experience.

Full‑time position, effective January 1 2027.
