About the role
The Library Associate I (Circulation) supports the daily services and operations provided by the Circulation department of the Eshleman Library. This position models concepts of outstanding customer service and demonstrates effective communication skills in assisting students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Responsibilities
- Provides customer service at the Circulation Desk by answering phones, checking materials in and out, managing library holds, assisting library users in locating materials, and offering general information about the Library and College.
- Aids in maintaining accurate library records within the Library’s integrated library system (ILS).
- Performs routine maintenance on and troubleshoots problems for a variety of office equipment and technology, including but not limited to printers, copiers, scanners, multi-line phones, and computers.
- Assists with MeL requests.
- Assists patrons with printing, copying, and scanning.
- Maintains the order and accuracy of the library collection.
- Performs library work related to shelving and stack maintenance.
- Understands and exercises confidentiality, as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of qualifications and training.
Qualifications
- Earned associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- One year of experience working in a library setting.
- Two years of experience providing customer service to a wide range of individuals.

Additional Unique Competencies
- Familiarity with and ability to use Circulation staff functions of an ILS (specifically, Innovative Interface’s Sierra).
