Job Summary
The Osceola Library System is seeking a dynamic, full-time Youth Services Librarian for the West Osceola Library, located in Celebration, Florida.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver innovative programs for young patrons, including storytime, music and movement, STEAM workshops, book clubs, artistic expression, coding, and more.
- Assist children, parents, and caregivers in finding reading materials, conducting research, and providing guidance on utilizing library services.
- Collaborate with the youth services team to support system-wide events, attend team meetings, and offer leadership, guidance, and organizational support.
- Conduct outreach to schools and community organizations to promote library resources and services.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of library collections for children and teens, both in print and online.
- Contribute to the Summer Learning program and other seasonal initiatives.
- Explore and participate in grant opportunities, community partnerships, and innovative service projects.
- Document statistics and prepare reports about youth programming at the assigned branch.
- Create and maintain age-appropriate content for the library’s online platforms.
- Inform library patrons of rules of conduct as necessary, and enforce those rules when appropriate.
- May assume responsibility for overseeing library operations in the absence of management.
- Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.
Requirements
- MLS (Master of Library Science) or MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science) degree from an ALA-accredited program preferred; will accept a combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience developing and delivering youth programming for diverse age groups.
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to engage both in-person and virtually, in the library and the community.
- Creative problem-solver and confident professional with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Excellent technology skills, including experience with web-based platforms, digital resources, and STEAM education tools.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) preferred, but not required.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to think strategically and collaboratively.
- Have a flexible schedule and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move from place to place within the location;
- Lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasionally up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials;
- Ability to sit for long periods and maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.

- Pay rate: $22/hr ($45,760)
