BASIC FUNCTION
Strive towards student success through supporting the College of the Desert's Library services. The Librarian will provide outreach, instruction, and reference assistance.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Demonstrate competence in current research and information gathering systems and methods.
- Work closely with other librarians in designing and delivering instruction programming.
- Deliver library instruction and other services for new students.
- Assess the impact of information literacy instruction on student learning outcomes, retention, and graduation.
- Work as a library liaison on the main campus and branch campuses.
- Share in the responsibility for in-person and online reference services to students and faculty.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in library science, library and information science OR the equivalent.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
