About the role
Meeting Street is a special place of learning, where children of all abilities have the opportunities to reach their fullest potential. We are looking for a Librarian to join our team for 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Teaches grade and age-appropriate reading, research, and media skills in conjunction with students’ voice and choice in learning.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that consistently contain diverse content and genres throughout the academic year.
- Provides a variety of learning experiences so that students demonstrate skills and concepts learned through individual and group performance.
- Cooperates and networks with other libraries, librarians, and agencies to provide access to resources outside the school.
- Models effective strategies for developing multiple literacies.
- Provides guidance in software and hardware evaluation.
- Understands copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property regulations, and assists others with their understanding and observance of the same.
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
- Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies, and effective classroom management techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with valid school librarian/media certification from RIDE or the ability to obtain.
- Work environment and physical requirements consistent with those of a typical school environment.
- Ability to move about the classroom and building continuously throughout the workday.
- Utilize the computer (20% of the time) and other office equipment.
