About the role
Enrolls and provides family and community partnership services to families in the Head Start program. Assists parents in problem-solving to reinforce self-sufficiency and to fully engage in their child’s education and in the school community. Document services in the program’s database management system.
Responsibilities
- Recruits, qualifies, and enrolls Head Start eligible early childhood education students in compliance with District and program expectations to maintain full enrollment of the program throughout the year; supports families in maintaining good attendance.
- Provides comprehensive services in the form of assistance and resource referrals in such areas as food, clothing, housing options, homeless supports, energy assistance, child abuse and domestic violence supports, immigration and refugee services, Child Find and Gifted and Talented referrals, adult education, and ESL; arranges and coordinates professional services as needed by a student (e.g., dental, vision, legal, etc.).
- Collaborates with program Health Partners to facilitate health-related services such as Medicaid enrollment and follow-up on hearing, vision, and dental referrals.
- Plans and orchestrates regular parent meetings on topics of interest to parents, including health and nutrition, social-emotional development, child literacy, financial literacy, and school readiness; develops parent leadership through encouraging parent volunteerism in the classroom, at the school and on committees.
- Maintains thorough, accurate documentation with a management database system in keeping with Head Start Performance Standards; completes required enrollment paperwork and maintains child files; develops family partnership agreements with parents according to guidelines and documents regular follow-up; and maintains ongoing case note and service-delivery documentation for each family.
- Collaborates with school, Head Start, grantee staff, and community agencies to provide supports to families, including parent meetings and trainings that are responsive to the needs and interests of the parents; current and appropriate resource referrals; and leadership, community engagement, and job opportunities.
- Affords support in planning and program development for the team; attends monthly team meetings and professional learning opportunities, contributes to ongoing process improvement through active participation in work groups.
Requirements
- Associate's degree, two (2) years of college, equivalent work experience, and/or a family service credential.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, Social or Behavioral Sciences, or related field preferred.
- In the absence of a related degree or certification, successful applicants must agree to successfully complete a family service credential within 18 months of hire per Head Start Performance Standards.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Colorado driver’s license or be able to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within the state’s required time frame for new residents and meet the District’s insurability requirements.
