The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. The role emphasizes leadership, compliance with organizational vision and strategic plans, and maintaining high-quality patient care.

About the Role

This position requires adherence to Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The nurse is expected to lead the team, delegate tasks appropriately, and maintain professional and supportive behavior.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately and demonstrates accountability.
• Understands and adheres to the scope of practice and escalates issues as necessary.
• Participates in problem identification and resolution, mentors, orients, and coaches others.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care, reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Maintains patient safety by monitoring progress, revising plans based on patient condition, and ensuring optimal pain control and patient comfort.
• Ensures patient safety related to medications, procedures, and infection prevention.
• Ensures patient education, including discharge planning and patient/family education.
• Communicates comprehensively with physicians and other healthcare team members.
• Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
• Adheres to workplace safety principles and practices, applies standard precautions, and maintains a safe environment.
• Provides excellent customer service, answers call lights, and facilitates access to resources.
• Maintains and protects patient confidentiality.
• Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.
• Organizes work to minimize overtime and assists in systems improvement.
• Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources effectively.

Requirements

• 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in acute care or ambulatory care.
• Nursing License (California).
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification or Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Certification.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Completion of an ICCP didactic course and PICC insertion experience, if applicable.
• Weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Qualifications

No formal education is required, but a registered nurse license is necessary. The role focuses on message management and may require occasional travel to different locations within the San Diego region.

Pay

$58.29 - $79.98 / hour.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, with a shift starting at 09:00 AM and ending at 05:30 PM.
