Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency by exhibiting leadership, delegation, accountability, and professional behavior.

  • Champions new ideas, leads the change process, and collaborates with other departments to resolve problems.

  • Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.

  • Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance.

  • Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

  • Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Maintains patient safety related to medications, procedures, and infection control.

  • Ensures patient safety and comfort, addresses patient anxieties, and educates patients and families about discharge instructions.

  • Communicates comprehensively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.

  • Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices.

  • Applies standard precautions and maintains a safe environment for self and others.

  • Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for meeting those needs.

  • Attends all mandatory meetings, in-services, and staff meetings as required, actively participates in other departmental professional development.

  • Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime and assists in systems improvement.

  • Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.

Experience

  • 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in acute care or ambulatory care.

  • Nursing License (California).

  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification or Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Certification.

Education

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Registered Nurse License (California).

  • Basic Life Support.

  • ICPIC didactic course and PICC insertion experience, as applicable.
