Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of specialized secretarial, administrative, and clerical tasks to support the day-to-day operations of a school or department.
- Maintains clerical records, prepares correspondence, and creates reports from such records.
- May indirectly supervise other lower-level clerical positions.
Requirements
- Knowledge of business office applications, procedures, practices, equipment, and office terminology.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at the time of application.
- Must pass the Federal and State Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation report in accordance with Section 3301-83-06 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
Qualifications
- Military Credit: Open competitive applicants with military service receive an additional 20% credit if a passing grade is attained. A non-returnable copy of the DD214 or Certificate of Service (indicating honorable discharge) must be uploaded with the application or presented at the examination.
- Promotional Qualifications: Current Dayton Public Schools employees must indicate their employment on the application to receive promotional credit. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection.
- Open Competitive Applicants: Promotional candidates are considered before open competitive candidates. Identical scores are broken in favor of (1) candidates who received military credit and (2) random selection.
Notes
- Examination dates and times are subject to change.
- Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination.
- Final appointment is contingent upon passing a job-related medical examination, drug screen, police background investigation, and providing documentary evidence of employment authorization and identity.
