About the role
The company is seeking a Level 4 opening for the Large Scale Fiber project located in Leesburg, VA (IAD).
Responsibilities
- Lead small crews
- Work on large-scale fiber projects involving patches and bundled fiber
- Perform patching from patch panel to patch panel, patch panel to device, and device to device
- Climb ladders as needed
- Perform all intermediate and advanced installation work activities
- Report directly to an Installation Technician Level 4 or above
- Understand and adhere to Installation and Quality Standards set by customers
- Work with minimum supervision
- Be certified in Skill levels 1 and 2, performing tasks such as:
- Assembling, erecting, mounting, and aligning common central office or data center hardware
- Running and securing cable and performing basic wiring functions (copper, fiber optic, and coaxial)
- Preparing cabling for termination to various pieces of telephony hardware
- Preparing and connecting coaxial and fiber optic type cabling
- Performing cable verification and cable mining operations during removal
- Mounting and labeling a wide variety of telecommunication units, terminal blocks, and interconnect panels
- Performing basic power operations such as mounting relay rack or cabinet fuse panels and terminating power feeders
- Interpreting job specifications, floor plans, equipment and wiring drawings
- Performing complex wiring operations
- Performing basic installation testing (power verification, continuity, Cat5/6 testing, and fiber optic loss testing)
- Preparing, connecting, and testing coaxial and fiber optic cabling
Requirements
- Experience leading small crews
- Computer literacy
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills (a plus)
