About the role

The VCU School of Medicine Division of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care and Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center are seeking a Clinical & Translational Investigator with a focus in Hematologic Malignancies.

Responsibilities

• Bring the most innovative clinical trials in Hematologic Malignancies to the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center and the VCU region utilizing intra and extramural partnerships.
• Collaborate with Basic Science Investigators to develop a translational research program.
• Establish extramural partnerships with the ultimate goal of offering the most innovative drugs in hematologic malignancies to patients at the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center before they are standard of care.
• Develop, initiate, and manage investigator-initiated trials in collaboration with the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center’s laboratory investigators.
• Participate in Massey’s Clinical Trial Training Program, write 2 IITs by year 3 and year 4, and apply for a career development award by year 4.
• Obtain funding for your research in areas of focus consistent with the mission of the School of Medicine, Department, and Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center.
• Participate in reasonable scholarly activities, such as publications, presentations at national meetings, and participation in appropriate academic organizations.
• Actively participate as a scientific member of the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Requirements

• Board certified or eligible in medical oncology or hematology
• Eligible for Virginia licensure
• Evidence of accomplishment/potential (e.g. – publications, trial PI) during medical school, residency, fellowship, and/or early academic career
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty at VCU
