About the role

The Show Technician position is responsible for operating show audio/lighting consoles and assisting other departments as necessary. The role requires basic experience with installation projects and technical troubleshooting in the entertainment industry.

Responsibilities

  • Operate show audio/lighting consoles (QLab and Yamaha audio board experience required)
  • Work cleanly and efficiently to deliver a stunning final event
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues with show elements
  • Work closely with Stage Manager and Entertainment Team to provide world-class shows

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Vocational or technical training in welding, engineering, rigging, carpentry, electronics, audio, construction, or electrician fields (preferred)
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the technical entertainment field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • OSHA and similar construction safety certifications (helpful)

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of a working theatrical space, including fly systems, rigging, rehearsal schedules, facility requirements, hanging/focusing lighting instruments, audio, running cabling, cable management, basic knots
  • Awareness of other aspects of production and their needs from your position and the space
  • Basic carpentry, electrics, and ability to interpret and create construction drawings, design drawings, light plots, and ground plans
  • Experience with various consoles and QLab Solutions-based troubleshooting
  • Friendly and proactive personality with excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to interface with clients, coworkers, and laborers to maintain a positive work environment
  • Strong organizational skills in both office and on-site settings
  • Awareness of job-related dangers and hazards, with a willingness to mitigate risks
  • Solid experience with QLab and Yamaha audio board operation, including wireless microphones

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, cramped, dirty, or unpleasant workspaces
  • On-site work in hot/humid, cold/freezing, rain, and snow conditions to meet deadlines
  • Regular exposure to hazards, including working at heights over 50 feet, heavy equipment, chemicals, and cutting tools such as saws and grinders

Physical Effort

  • Strenuous physical effort, including frequent handling of heavy objects (50-75 lbs.) and heavy hand tools
  • Frequent operation of heavy equipment and hand tools
  • Prolonged standing, kneeling, and bending

Schedule

Rehearsal: August 24 – September 4
Performance Dates: September 6, 12, 19, 26, October 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31

Pay

$27/hour
