About the role
The Show Technician is responsible for operating show audio/lighting consoles and assisting other departments as needed. This seasonal position is based at LEGOLAND® FL in Winter Haven, FL, and requires local candidates.
Rehearsal dates: August 24 – September 4. Performance dates: September 6, 12, 19, 26, October 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31.
Responsibilities
- Operate show audio/lighting consoles (QLab and Yamaha audio board experience required)
- Work cleanly and efficiently to deliver a stunning final event
- Troubleshoot technical issues with show elements
- Collaborate closely with the Stage Manager and Entertainment Team to provide world-class shows
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Vocational or technical training in welding, engineering, rigging, carpentry, electronics, audio, construction, or electrician fields (preferred)
- 1–2 years of experience in the technical entertainment field
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA or similar construction safety certification(s) (helpful)
Skills
- Basic knowledge of theatrical spaces, including fly systems, rigging, rehearsal schedules, facility requirements, lighting instruments, audio, cabling, cable management, basic knots, and production workflows
- Ability to interpret and create construction drawings, design drawings, light plots, and ground plans
- Experience with QLab, Yamaha audio boards, and wireless microphone operation
- Friendly, proactive personality with strong organizational and communication skills
- Awareness of job-related hazards and risk mitigation
- Basic carpentry, electrics, and troubleshooting skills
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to all-weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and snow
- Work in cramped, dirty, or unpleasant quarters
- Regular on-site work with potential hazards, including heights over 50 feet, heavy equipment, chemicals, and cutting tools
Physical Effort
- Frequent handling of heavy objects (50–75 lbs.) and heavy hand tools
- Prolonged standing, kneeling, and bending
Pay
$27/hour
