Position Summary
The Legal Support Specialist II (LSS II) provides advanced administrative and legal support to attorneys firm-wide. This role offers opportunities for career growth within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare legal documents, memoranda, and correspondence from draft or dictated text.
- Create, edit, format, and proofread documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Draft simple notices and generate pleadings and briefs with advanced formatting and editing capabilities.
- Transcribe data from audio tapes and manage workflow of assigned tasks and projects.
- Transmit legal documents, memoranda, and correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials electronically, via fax, email, mail, and messenger.
- Aid in the management of client financial records, accountings, and reporting requirements.
- Manage calendars, track deadlines, and assist with maintaining Bar and Court Admissions.
- Track attorney Continuing Legal Education and provide additional support, back-up, and PTO coverage for LSS I Team.
- Perform other advanced clerical tasks and related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ related experience at a law firm or professional services industry.
- Associate’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to remain composed in stressful situations, and strong confidentiality practices.
- Advanced computer skills including knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and specific law firm programs.
- Familiarity with basic graphics and picture manipulation, including resizing, copying, and pasting functions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to train and mentor others, and strong client service focus.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
