About the role

The Legal & Risk Analyst plays a critical role in managing the District's legal and risk exposure, overseeing insurance programs, and providing guidance on legal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in monitoring and improving the District’s legal/risk exposure.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for District’s legal counsel and manages legal assignments.
  • Manages and negotiates insurance contracts, including property, liability, auto, and workers' compensation.
  • Reviews and drafts contracts, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and risk management guidelines.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and legal counsel to finalize legal terms and process contract amendments.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors, providers, and external legal counsel.
  • Conducts risk assessments and develops action plans to minimize risks.
  • Ensures compliance with insurance and safety regulations and prepares financial reports.
  • Attends and participates in professional meetings and trainings to stay updated on industry trends and innovations.

Requirements

Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in risk management, liability insurance, workers' compensation, and/or litigation is required. A bachelor's degree in Paralegal, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred. Notary Public Certification or the ability to obtain upon hire is required. CRM, CSM, and ARM designations are preferred.

Qualifications

A valid Colorado Driver License or the ability to obtain one upon hire is required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and proofreading skills are essential. Strong organizational and analytical skills are also necessary.

Skills

Knowledge of insurance terms, provisions, and coverages; principles of claims management; subrogation claims; the immunities offered to governmental entities; computer software relative to insurance claim processing; and current trends and legislation in risk management are required.

Pay

The hiring range is $72,962 to $91,507 annually based on qualifications, education, and experience.

The position requires occasional travel to various work sites and remote locations.
