About the role

The Analyst III serves as the Legal Records Retention Administrator (LRRA) in the Office of Legal Support Services - Case Management Section (CMS) and is the primary point of contact for sensitive legal records retention policies, procedures, and best practices.

The incumbent independently, or in a lead capacity, conducts research and analyzes legal records and data to ensure compliance with state mandates, the DOJ Administrative Manual, Department records retention policies, legal division Records Retention Schedules, and DOJ Records Management Coordinator (DOJRMC) requirements. The incumbent applies knowledge of the Office of the Attorney General’s 40+ legal practice areas, related policies and procedures, and legal support services to interpret and apply records retention requirements for a wide range of case types.

The incumbent analyzes and audits complex data within ProLaw to support accurate records classification, retention, and disposition, and collaborates with Docketing, Legal Divisions, Quality Control and Data Integrity Team (CMSQC), Legal Support Services (LSS), and the DOJRMC.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for legal records retention policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct research and analyze legal records and data to ensure compliance with state mandates, DOJ Administrative Manual, and Department records retention policies.
  • Interpret and apply records retention requirements for a wide range of case types across 40+ legal practice areas.
  • Analyze and audit complex data within ProLaw to support accurate records classification, retention, and disposition.
  • Collaborate with Docketing, Legal Divisions, Quality Control and Data Integrity Team (CMSQC), Legal Support Services (LSS), and the DOJRMC.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the Office of the Attorney General’s 40+ legal practice areas, including its policies, procedures, and legal support services provided to the legal enterprise.

Pay

$6,623.00 - $8,290.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Work shift: 8 AM to 5 PM.
  • Work week: Monday - Friday.

Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary wage reductions in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) accruals. The specific rate and hours earned vary by bargaining unit.

This position is located in Sacramento County, within the Division of Administrative Services, Case Management Section.
