About the role
The Legal Operations & Risk Management Specialist develops, implements, and improves the processes, practices, and systems that support the Legal Team's efficiency, effectiveness, cost management, and overall performance. This role provides cross-functional legal and compliance support across the Company.
Responsibilities
- Support the organization insurance program (coverage, certificate of insurance, etc.)
- Maintain the Legal Matter management system, including generating reports and ensuring matters and documents are properly classified and organized
- Provide support on legal projects or other projects requiring legal support
- Review legal spending and budgeting for insurance program; work with Accounts Payable to process payment to brokers and insurance carriers
- Provide support to Outside Counsel management, including tracking spending, billing practices, and general counsel management
- Identify and implement process improvements within Legal Team operations
- Create master agreements
- Provide general assistance with mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence collection, organization, and APA negotiation
- Support legal governance and entity management
- Implement, draft, and review policies
- Manage insurance applications, supporting documentation, and reports
- Manage insurance vendor relationships
- Receive, review, negotiate, and execute NDAs as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in legal operations, risk management, or a related field OR a high school diploma/GED and at least 5 years of experience in legal operations, risk management, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of legal and compliance operations
- Experience in insurance matters—coverage, endorsement, etc.
- Exceptional oral (phone), written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly organized, with the ability to accurately document information
- Ability to present a positive, professional image of the Company to employees, external contacts, and the general public
- Self-starter and willingness to manage various projects at once
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using Legal Files, ISN, Avetta, and Adobe Sign
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Notary Public
Work Environment
Primarily indoor office environment; noise level is generally quiet. May require sitting for long periods. Regularly requires talking, hearing, seeing, and often reaching with hands. Regularly requires standing and walking. Regularly requires use of a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually.
