About the role

The Legal Executive Assistant (LEA) supports lawyers by managing the daily functions of an attorney's practice, allowing them to focus on their practice and client relationships. This role requires both administrative competence and a deep understanding of the attorney's practice.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the attorney in managing projects and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Serves as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and internal departments, handling inquiries and relaying messages accurately.
  • Utilizes independent judgment to respond on behalf of the attorney and make sound decisions.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships to ensure efficient teamwork.
  • Provides clear direction and constructive feedback on projects and assignments.
  • Delegates assignments to LSAs (Legal Support Assistants) and ensures timely and accurate completion.
  • Maintains and monitors the progress of assignments, communicating with support teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Drafts, proofreads, and finalizes legal documents, ensuring accuracy.
  • Oversees the maintenance and organization of electronic and paper filing systems, ensuring all work products are easily accessible and up to date.
  • Conducts research on behalf of the attorney and practice group, compiling information for case preparation and executive briefings.
  • Coordinates meeting planning and logistics, preparing meeting agendas and ensuring presentations and materials are accurately prepared and available.
  • Manages billing matters, ensuring prebills are processed accurately and timely, and final bills are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Organizes the attorney's calendar, schedules meetings, resolves conflicts, and manages travel itineraries.
  • Ensures the attorney's expenses and time entry are assigned to AskLegalSupport and processed correctly in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an administrative role within a corporate or legal environment.
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of processes, procedures, and types of documents relevant to an attorney’s practice.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert experience with technology and Firm software, including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and third-party programs.
  • Proficiency in virtual firm collaboration tools such as Zoom and Teams.

$49.45 - $65.52 per hour depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.
