Our client is seeking a seasoned litigator with 4–5+ years of experience to join as a Legal Engineer, pairing deep litigation expertise with the leading edge of legal AI. You will be the domain expert who helps lawyers, law firms, and AI companies understand and adopt the legal data infrastructure that quietly powers much of the industry. This is not a legal role. It is a growth, sales, and product position for someone who knows the law inside and out. You will own client relationships and go-to-market initiatives from day one, work directly with engineers on AI evaluation work, and help shape how the company presents itself to the legal market. There is no hierarchy to climb: you will own your own clients, events, and evals in a flat organization. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Demos, pilots & onboarding: Run product demos, pilots, and onboarding for law firms, in-house legal teams, and AI companies to drive understanding and adoption of the data platform.Client ownership: Own client relationships end to end, from initial sales calls with major law firms through ongoing account engagement.Go-to-market: Design and run sales and marketing campaigns, including conference demos, events, and LinkedIn content.Customer discovery: Speak with lawyers, legal teams, and AI labs about how they use legal data, and bring those insights back to product and engineering.AI evaluation: Collaborate with engineers to build and annotate evals for AI pipelines, for example determining case overruling and citation accuracy.Content & messaging: Write customer emails, launch materials, explainers, and product copy.Market positioning: Identify compelling case examples, craft narratives, and drive word-of-mouth in the legal community. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Multiple years (ideally 4–5+; minimum 3.5) of active litigation experience as a U.S. lawyer at a top BigLaw firm or elite litigation boutique. This is non-negotiable.Hands-on litigator: has appeared in court, run research projects, supervised legal research teams, and advised clients directly, not only redlined documents.Strong legal domain knowledge, with litigation experience in class actions, data privacy, or financial services.Professional network of lawyers and legal contacts at other top firms to support outreach and go-to-market efforts.Comfort with outward-facing work: sales calls with law firms, product demos, conferences, and events.Familiarity with lawyer communication norms and expectations.Willingness and ability to work in person five days a week in New York City (or to relocate).Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (U.S. citizen or Green Card holder). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience at a legal technology or litigation technology company (e.g., Harvey, Darrow).Early adopter of legal AI such as having tested or championed AI tool purchases at a firm or served on a technology procurement committee.Genuine enthusiasm for AI and legal tech. No engineering background is required.
