Legal Document Automation Developer

About the role

Piper Companies is seeking a Legal Document Automation Developer to support a nationally recognized law firm. The Legal Document Automation Developer will support the development, maintenance, and optimization of automated legal document solutions while partnering closely with attorneys and technology teams to improve operational efficiency and client service.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated legal document templates using document automation platforms.
• Configure complex document logic, workflows, conditional content, and data-driven automation processes.
• Collaborate with attorneys, legal operations professionals, and technology teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Troubleshoot existing document automation tools and implement enhancements to improve efficiency as well as user experience.
• Support legal innovation and technology initiatives across multiple practice groups and business functions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with document automation platforms such as Contract Express, HotDocs, or Document Drafter.
• Strong technical skillset with experience creating automated templates, workflows, and business logic.
• Ability to work independently and self-motivate while maintaining excellent communication, organization, and problem solving skills.
• Prior experience within a law firm, legal operations team, or legal technology environment is highly preferred.

Pay

Pay Range: $40–$50 per hour (depending on experience), long-term contract
