Legal Counsel - Temp

We are seeking a temporary Legal Counsel to provide critical legal support to a luxury skincare CPG and retail brand in our Midtown NYC office. This role focuses on delivering practical legal advice and ensuring compliance while mitigating risk in a hybrid work environment (3 days per week in office).

About the role

This temporary position is based in Midtown Manhattan and involves overseeing and managing a variety of contracts and legal matters for a well-known global luxury skincare company.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on contracts, compliance, and regulatory issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements to align with company policies and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, particularly within the CPG/retail sector.
• Advise internal teams on legal risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel to manage complex legal issues.
• Support dispute resolution and litigation processes as needed.
• Stay updated on legal trends and changes relevant to the CPG/retail industry.
• Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal best practices.

Requirements

• Admitted to a US State Bar, ideally New York State Bar.
• Juris Doctor or LLM.
• Strong background in legal practices, preferably within the CPG or retail industry.
• Experience with contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations applicable to the CPG/retail sector.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Capability to work independently in a busy environment.
