Legal Counsel, Project Finance

For our client, a leader in the Energy & Utilities space, we are seeking a Legal Counsel specializing in Project Finance to support financial strategy, forecasting, and performance management initiatives that strengthen business visibility and decision-making.

About the role

You will partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to improve planning processes, financial discipline, controls, and resource allocation. The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise performance and scalable financial operations within an Energy & Utilities environment.

Location: San Francisco, CA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Draft transaction documents and manage closing mechanics for complex project financing transactions
• Manage corporate approvals and disclosures related to project financing
• Oversee the legal due diligence process, coordinating with multiple stakeholders
• Serve as a strategic legal resource to non-lawyer business partners
• Utilize AI tools to enhance productivity and streamline workflows

Qualifications

• J.D. Degree from an accredited law school
• Active Membership in at least one U.S. state bar
• Minimum of 3-5+ years of project finance experience from a leading law firm's Project Finance and Development group
• Strong focus in renewable energy financing transactions
• Proven ability to independently drive complex high-value transactions under tight deadlines
• Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Pay

$217,477 – $289,969 annually
