Legal Cashier - Canada Focus
About the role
The Legal Cashier provides efficient and accurate support in cashiering and bookkeeping functions as part of the North America Finance team, within the Collections department.
Responsibilities
- Process and manage incoming payments by Check, ACH and Bank Wires on a daily basis.
- Process write-offs and service charges as requested.
- Send emails to the Collections department for allocation instructions.
- Send emails to staff members for matter numbers.
- Research Elite 3E for allocation instructions.
- Manage & rename files for electronic document management system, iManage.
- Affix backup per requests.
- Affix different projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of 3E and/or Enterprise software helpful, but not required. Excellent written and oral communication skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure. Must be a team player and have interpersonal skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a relevant role. Prior experience in accounts receivable or as a legal cashier is preferred, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment. Bilingualism in French (written and verbal) is preferred but not required.
