Position Summary
The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for the full life cycle of the invoice preparation process while ensuring that all invoices are accurate, compliant with client requirements, and submitted in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Edits Prebills via Prebill Viewer and Aderant based on the request from the Billing Attorneys
- Generates a high volume of complex client invoices via Aderant
- Sets up and maintains the billing system
- Ensures that all invoices are compliant with the billing guidelines and that all required supporting documentation is compiled prior to submission
- Sends ebills via EHub, including all supporting documentation
- Maintains and updates the billing system
- Makes sure that all invoices are sent out in a timely manner
- Monitors and immediately address any invoice rejections, reductions, and those needing appeals
- Responds to billing inquiries
- Undertakes special projects and ad hoc reports as needed and/or requested

- Must be proactive in identifying billing issues and providing possible solutions
- Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships within all levels of the firm

Education & Prior Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Legal Biller required
Technology Proficiency
- Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
- Aderant or Elite/3E preferred
- Prebill Viewer, E-billing Hub, Bill Blast
- Proficiency in Excel required
Additional Qualifications
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environment
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directed
- Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovation

Schedule
This role reports to the Billing Supervisor. Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building.
