Legal Billing Specialist

Position Summary

The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for the full life cycle of the invoice preparation process while ensuring that all invoices are accurate, compliant with client requirements, and submitted in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Edits Prebills via Prebill Viewer and Aderant based on the request from the Billing Attorneys
• Generates a high volume of complex client invoices via Aderant
• Safeguards compliance with billing guidelines and compiles all required supporting documentation prior to submission
• Sends ebills via EHub, including all supporting documentation
• Maintains oversight of invoice rejections, reductions, and appeals
• Responds to billing inquiries
• Undertakes special projects and ad hoc reports as needed and/or requested

• Effectively prioritizes workload and adapts to a fast-paced environment
• Highly motivated self-starter who can work well under minimal supervision, as well as take a proactive approach in a team setting
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Takes initiative and uses good judgment, excellent follow-up skills
• Must be proactive in identifying billing issues and providing possible solutions
• Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships within all levels of the firm

Education & Prior Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Legal Biller required

Technology Proficiency

• Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

• Proficiency in Excel

Additional Qualifications

• Demonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environment
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships within all levels of the firm
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directed
• Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovation
