Responsibilities
- Provides legal assistant support to the DAG focusing on the criminal investigation and prosecution of worker exploitation and labor-related offenses, including wage theft.
- Interacts with investigators, witnesses, agency personnel and the public.
- Develops a thorough understanding of the relevant facts and attends case meetings with law enforcement and interviews with witnesses.
- Reviews, analyzes and drafts legal documents.
- Maintains physical and digital files, prepares litigation documents and investigates case-related issues and facts.
- Coordicates research, investigative reports and case preparation for the deputy attorneys general.
Requirements
- Education: Possession of an Associate’s degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved program OR a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
- Experience: Five years’ experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.
- Legal Research: Five years’ experience in legal research such as researching statutes, regulations, case law and background information.
- Laws Interpretation: Five years’ experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Drafting Legal Documents: Five years’ experience in drafting legal documents and such as legal briefs or memoranda of law including presenting facts, setting out and analyzing legal issues and applying legal precedents.
- Interviewing: Five years’ experience in interviewing using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action.
Qualifications
- Education: Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree.
- Experience: Three years’ experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.
- Legal Research: Three years’ experience in legal research such as researching statutes, regulations, case law and background information.
- Laws Interpretation: Three years’ experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Drafting Legal Documents: Two years’ experience in drafting legal documents and such as legal briefs or memoranda of law including presenting facts, setting out and analyzing legal issues and applying legal precedents.
- Interviewing: Two years’ experience in interviewing using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action.
