Legal Assistant, Employment
As a Legal Assistant within WM's Legal Department, you play a vital role in keeping our team running smoothly and effectively. You provide proactive administrative and litigation support that allows our attorneys to focus on delivering strong outcomes for the business. You'll thrive in this role by staying organized, anticipating needs, and managing multiple priorities with confidence and sound judgment. Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to legal counsel, including correspondence, scheduling, and file management.
- Coordinates with outside counsel on scheduling and case-related logistics.
- Assists in preparing exhibits and materials for legal filings, hearings, and depositions.
- Tracks litigation deadlines and assists with the litigation settlement process.
- Responds to subpoenas and requests for company records or information from outside counsel and internal attorneys.
- Creates and manages legal matters using the company's legal matter management software.
- Drafts, proofreads, and edits correspondence, memos, and reports.
- Arranges department travel and submits department expense reports.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
- Minimum 5 years prior work experience
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments
- Strong attention to detail
Qualifications
- Experience working in an in-house legal department or law firm as a legal assistant
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience using Legal Tracker, legal matter billing system
- Experience with Concur software or comparable travel and expense management software
