About the role

The position involves providing legal and administrative support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in various criminal and civil matters for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Northern District of New York (NDNY).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary support specialist for managing incoming and outgoing discovery in complex criminal and/or civil matters.
  • Analyze and summarize evidentiary materials, including witness statements and documentary records.
  • Aid attorneys with depositions, hearings, and trial preparations, and during live court proceedings.
  • Conduct complex legal and factual research in legal and non-legal databases and draft legal documents.

Requirements

Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector, with experience working in a legal environment performing routine legal assistance assignments.

Qualifications

  • To be qualified at the GS-07 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions: specialized experience, superior academic achievement, graduate education, or a combination of specialized experience and graduate education.
  • To be qualified at the GS-09 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions: specialized experience, graduate education, or a combination of specialized experience and graduate education.

Pay

The range for this position, including locality pay applicable to location, is $52,059 to $82,787/YR for Albany and $50,460 to $80,243/YR for Binghamton.
