About the role
The position involves providing a wide range of legal and administrative services to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in various criminal and/or civil matters for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Northern District of New York (NDNY).
Responsibilities
- Serving as the primary support specialist for managing incoming and outgoing discovery in complex criminal and/or civil matters.
- Analyzing and summarizing evidentiary materials, including witness statements and documentary records.
- Assisting attorneys with depositions, hearings, and trial preparations.
- Conducting complex legal and factual research in legal and non-legal databases.
- Drafting a variety of legal documents such as discovery requests and routine motions, proposed orders, and notices.
Requirements
Must be well-qualified surplus/displaced Federal employees (CTAP/ICTAP) in the local area and all current/former Federal employees in permanent competitive service positions (status candidates).

Qualifications
- GS-07 Level: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector.
- GS-09 Level: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector.

Pay
The range for this position is $52,059 to $82,787/YR for Albany and $50,460 to $80,243/YR for Binghamton.
