Lecturer, statistics and business analytics
A permanent, full-time position within the Aalto lecturer career system (four levels: university teacher, university lecturer, or senior university lecturer, depending on qualifications and experience). Located in Otaniemi on the Aalto University campus.
About the role
The position emphasizes statistics and business mathematics, with an independent role in coordinating and organizing teaching at the BA level. Responsibilities include supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses in business analytics and information service management, contributing to MA-level course planning and management, and participating in student tutoring, curriculum design, teaching development, and administrative tasks.
The language of teaching at the BA level is mostly Finnish, while most MA-level courses are taught in English. Applicants must be fluent in spoken and written Finnish and highly proficient in English.
While the emphasis is on teaching, the role also includes a research component. The lecturer is expected to conduct research and stay updated on developments in their field.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and organize teaching of statistics and business mathematics at the BA level.
- Supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses in business analytics and information service management.
- Contribute to planning and managing MA-level courses.
- Participate in student tutoring, curriculum design, teaching development, and administrative tasks.
- Conduct research and follow developments in the field.
Requirements
- Doctorate (or near completion) in a relevant field, such as statistics, mathematics, operations research, management science, or business analytics.
- Fluency in spoken and written Finnish and high proficiency in English.
- Experience in teaching statistics and business analytics in a business school environment is an advantage.
