About the role

The Department of Engineering Education (EEd) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Master Lecturer (working title Assistant/Associate/Full Instructional Professor) in the areas of artificial intelligence and applied data science with connected technical expertise in advanced machine learning (e.g., NLP, LLMs, computer vision, mathematical foundations for AI and data science, ML security), and/or proficiency in at least one sensing modality.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching, updating, and developing undergraduate and graduate engineering courses, both online and face-to-face.
  • Research in support of teaching.
  • Service and teaching activities at the local, state, and national level, as well as at the university level, as directed by the department chair.

Qualifications

  • PhD in engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
  • Strong understanding of advanced programming areas, including modern machine learning and deep learning methods.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: mechanical engineering, electrical & computer engineering, or computer science.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to undergraduate and graduate students, foster a collaborative learning environment, and remain current with developments in their field.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in engineering education research.
