About the role

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Cryptography position is based in Australia. This role involves contributing to the advancement of research and education in cryptography and secure computation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in areas such as post-quantum cryptography, quantum algorithms and cryptography, foundational theory and mathematics, and the design and analysis of cryptographic primitives and protocols.
  • Contribute to high-impact research outcomes and the School’s growing research profile.
  • Develop secure, privacy-preserving, and trustworthy digital systems.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a PhD in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience, and demonstrate a proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and developments.

  • Experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
  • Experience working in a team, collaborating across disciplines, and building effective relationships.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.

Skills

  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
  • Experience working in a team, collaborating across disciplines and building effective relationships.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
