About the Department

The Humboldt Department of Economics provides students with a rigorous core combined with applications that range from development and international trade to the environment, natural resources, sustainability, and clean energy. The faculty are committed to innovative and effective learning-centered approaches and maintain a culture of close pedagogical collaboration. The program is interdisciplinary, serving economics majors, students from other disciplines, and general education students.

Qualifications

• Lower Division: Graduate degree or ABD in Economics or a related discipline with coursework in economics. A conferred PhD in Economics and two or more years of relevant successful college or university-level teaching experience is preferred.
• Upper Division: A conferred PhD or ABD in Economics and a demonstrated record of teaching excellence. Two or more years of relevant successful college or university-level teaching experience is preferred.

Position Details

Position Type: Lecturer (temporary, as-needed).

First Review Date: Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Early response is encouraged.

Pay

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary schedule for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is as follows:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 per month.
• Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 per month.
• Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 per month.

Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. Full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For more information, see the Explanation of the Distribution of Pay.
