Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Nursing
About the role
Penn State Mont Alto seeks applicants for a non-tenure line teaching position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor in Nursing for our BSN program. This position is a full-time position starting in Fall 2025.
Responsibilities
- Coordination and instruction in mental health, professional role, and fundamental nursing courses, including classroom and clinical teaching, with a preference given to individuals with a background in mental-health nursing.
- In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising students, participating in committees, and other service and scholarly activities as appropriate.
- Show evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and mastery subject matter.
Qualifications
- Candidates for the position will possess at a minimum a master’s degree in nursing and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Individuals with a master’s degree will be considered at the rank of instructor, and individuals with a doctoral degree (e.g. DNP, PhD) will be considered at the rank of assistant teaching professor.
- An earned Doctorate degree will be a condition of continued employment after the fifth year for a candidate hired as an instructor.
- A Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification is highly preferred and/or certification in mental-health nursing.
Skills
Interest in active and collaborative learning, the use of instructional technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
