About the role

The faculty member will teach INST 2100 and advanced courses in political science and international studies, including courses in international security, national security, and area studies, with a preference for East Asian countries. The typical teaching load is 4/4 with a teaching release for service to the department (i.e., a 3/3 load with service requirement). The faculty member will also contribute to developing the international studies program with an emphasis on national security.

The Department of Political Science and International Studies at UNT is a highly productive department with 31 faculty members committed to excellence in both teaching and research. The department offers BA, MA, and PhD degrees, and the International Studies program offers BA and MA degrees. Faculty in the department have previously edited the American Political Science Review, International Studies Quarterly, and Journal of Political Science Education. The department also houses the Castleberry Peace Institute, the Peace Studies Program, and the International Studies Program.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or ABD) in Political Science or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well grounded in international relations, international security, and conflict management.
