Lecturer of Political Science

Reports to: Chairman of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences

About the role

Teach courses in the discipline area of Political Science. Provide academic support to students, maintain class-related records, and assess student coursework.

Responsibilities

• Teaches a typical load of 15 semester-hours of undergraduate courses each semester in Political Science in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
• Provides academic support to students.
• Maintains class-related records and assesses student coursework.
• Participates in departmental, college, and university-required activities.

Requirements

• Master's degree, including 18 hours in Political Science or a related field.
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate level in traditional classroom settings and/or online formats.
• Commitment to student engagement and academic support.
• Ability to communicate effectively and participate in departmental and university activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution.
• 3 or more years of teaching experience.

Skills & Abilities

• Interactively engaging students to develop enhanced critical thinking.
• Strong communication at all levels.

Work Environment

Normal office environment within a university setting, providing both in-person and online instruction. Utilizing standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, and email, along with technology-based learning materials and learning management systems. The physical requirements of the job consist of standing and/or sitting for extended periods while instructing and/or engaging in meetings.
