Lecturer of Early Childhood Education

Terminal (Fixed Term) Academic Staff position in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership.

About the role

The University of Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, is seeking an emerging or established scholar passionate about promoting equitable, inclusive, and quality teaching and learning in early childhood education. The B.S. in Early Childhood Education program at UW-Stout is renowned for its commitment to research-based, developmentally appropriate, and applied learning practices. This program leads to licensure in Early Childhood Education (birth to grade 3) and Early Childhood Special Education (birth to grade 3).

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses (face-to-face and online), supervise student teachers, and contribute to program assessment of student learning, with teaching opportunities during the summer. The anticipated start date is Monday, August 17, 2026. This posting is for the Instructional Academic Staff position; a separate tenure-track faculty position is also available.

Responsibilities

• Teach Early Childhood Education and/or Early Childhood Special Education courses.
• Supervise teacher candidates in field experiences.
• Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning.
• Develop and maintain positive relations with outside agencies.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on academic program assessment and continuous improvement processes.
• Advance student learning in alignment with UW-Stout’s polytechnic tenets: applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, and career-focused education.

Requirements

• An earned Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field by employment start date.
• At least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience as the lead teacher in the Birth-Age 8 range.
• Licensable in Early Childhood Education and/or Early Childhood Special Education in the Birth-Age 8 range.

Qualifications

• Highly Desired/Preferred:
  • At least one degree earned in Early Childhood Education and/or Early Childhood Special Education.
  • A record of strong teaching in teacher education courses.
  • A record of supervision of Early Childhood Education teacher candidates.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success.
