Position Summary

The College of Business, Industry, Life Science, and Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a full-time, 9-month combined appointment consisting of two concurrent 50% positions (20 hours per week each): Lecturer in Applied Engineering Technology Management and Metals Processing Laboratory Manager, beginning January 2027. This unique opportunity combines undergraduate teaching with management of the university's metals processing laboratories. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in engineering technology, manufacturing, and related disciplines while directing laboratory operations that support hands-on learning, equipment maintenance, laboratory safety, inventory management, and technical support for students and faculty. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, experience working in manufacturing, engineering technology, or related technical environments, and the ability to foster safe, innovative, and engaging laboratory experiences while collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and industry partners.

Lecturer Responsibilities (50%)

  • Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in engineering technology, manufacturing, metals processing, industrial technology, or related disciplines.
  • Develop and enhance curriculum using innovative instructional methods.
  • Collaborate with faculty on assessment, curriculum development, and departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain professional engagement with industry to ensure curriculum reflects current practices.
  • Follow and promote applicable laboratory safety policies and procedures.
  • A 50% teaching load consists of five (5) courses per academic year, typically two (2) courses in one semester and three (3) courses in the other, based on departmental instructional and scheduling needs.

Metals Processing Laboratory Manager Responsibilities (50%)

  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the metals processing laboratories.

Pay

The salary for this combined position is $58,500 per academic year.
