About the role

UNSW’s Education Focused roles enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those appointed will drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities. The Lecturer – Nutrition & Dietetics will contribute to the development and delivery of education in the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Innovation program with a focus on the clinical stream, including work-integrated learning content and placement. The role is suited to an educator and clinician who is passionate about educational excellence, committed to evidence-based practice and eager to support students in achieving strong academic, professional and employability outcomes. You will collaborate across the discipline, bring current clinical and industry knowledge into the classroom, and contribute to a dynamic learning environment that prepares graduates for professional practice.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of education in the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Innovation program, with a focus on the clinical stream and work-integrated learning content
  • Support the placement program and innovative teaching and curriculum development
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the discipline to enhance student success
  • Bring current clinical and industry knowledge into the classroom

Requirements

  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) or eligibility and willingness to seek APD accreditation
  • PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics or other related health/medical disciplines preferred; significant and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a PhD
  • Demonstrated experience with industry and work-integrated learning and clinical education
  • Demonstrated clinical experience
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development
  • Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable)
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives

Pay

Level B from $133k plus clinical loading, 17% superannuation contribution and annual leave loading (pro rata).

Schedule

Part time (17.5 hours per week), continuing opportunity.
