About the role

The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer in Public Health. The School is committed to academic excellence and offers a variety of degree programs and collaborative opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with School and University instructions, deadlines, and policies regarding course scheduling.
  • Be flexible with regard to the scheduling of classes to accommodate classroom space availability during standard business hours.
  • Instruct in-person classes at the UC San Diego main campus or at the partner site at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.
  • Teach a minimum of one class in a Public Health-related topic, with experience as a Teaching Assistant qualifying.
  • Teach courses including but not limited to: BS undergraduate and graduate courses such as Introduction to Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Behavior and Chronic Diseases, Health Policies for Healthy Lifestyles, Environmental and Occupational Health, Public Health Capstone sequence, Honors Program sequence, and more.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching a minimum of one class in a Public Health-related topic.
  • A PhD, DrPH, other related doctoral degree, or other related terminal degree (e.g., MPH, RD) by the start date of appointment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Research or practice experience relevant to the course(s) to which they are applying to teach.
  • Prior college-level instructor of record teaching experience in public health.

Pay

The salary is based on the University of California pay scales and is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule may be part-time or full-time, for 1, 2, or 3 classes per quarter and 1, 2, or 3 quarters in duration in an academic year.
