Lecturer in Physiology

About the role

The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia is expanding its teaching faculty to meet the needs of its growing educational programs. We seek an energetic and innovative educator to teach upper-level undergraduate students in our new Biomedical Physiology program.

Responsibilities

• Teach the equivalent of up to three 3-credit hour courses per academic term
• Participate in the development of new course materials
• Supervise teaching assistants
• Opportunities to participate in the administration of our undergraduate program and to contribute to the teaching missions of our graduate and veterinary medicine program

Requirements

• Candidates must have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DVM, MD/DO, DVM, DDS/DMD, PharmD, OD) for their respective field
• A minimum of one year of experience teaching physiology at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional school level is required
• Candidates must have excellent communication skills

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DVM, MD/DO, DVM, DDS/DMD, PharmD, OD) for their respective field or the minimum of a Masters degree for fields such as nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or others
• Candidates must have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in a discipline area related to the position’s responsibilities and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire

Skills

• Evidence of teaching excellence using active learning methods in both small and large group settings is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to teach multiple areas of physiology and in physiology teaching laboratories is preferred
• Ability to teach pathophysiology or pharmacology is also desirable
